Too many teams look to take a Scrum course on Wednesday and Thursday, turn off the waterfall switch on Friday, and turn on the Scrum switch on Monday. No! Agile is as agile does. This 2-day course opens up the Scrum pattern toolbox to the attendees, with tools they can use to customize Scrum building blocks to their local context, business, and situation. The toolbox is based on a cycle of planning, changing the process, inspecting the results for statistical normalcy and improvement, and adaptation into the next step of the cycle. The building blocks are empirically validated, each one presenting examples, theory, and substantiation for why it works (and when it doesn't), and the preconditions (such as other patterns) to implementing it. The pattern language suggests alternative options at each step to inform your own intuition, insight, and experience. The patterns provide a powerful, low-risk and proven way to realize the gains of agile development. And while the focus is on Scrum, you can apply the same process from the toolbox, and more than half of the patterns, on non-Scrum projects.
